It took four years of research, still unfinished; hundreds of photographs; over thirty hours of digital video footage; underwater shots of arte facts of war; and dozens of hours of conversation with survivors from Greece and abroad to create this album of unique photographs, which constitutes a first in the international literature. The photographs are accompanied by a number of short texts that constitute a veritable relay of memories, each eyewitness picking up the thread of their account at the point the previous witness left off.The creation of this book has been a deeply emotional experience: it is our hope that we will succeed in sharing some of these feelings with our readers.
