A lonely forty-year-old lawyer falling apart because of failure and alcohol, Symeon Piertzovanis receives a visit by a beautiful woman, Daphne Kyprianidou, shortly after his partner's death. She claims that she had assigned his partner a missing person case in Thessaloniki. Symeon is excited and eager to continue the investigation for a hefty sum. The search takes him back to the city of his college years and the open wounds of his youth. Looking for Christos, Daphne's illicit lover of the past, he stumbles upon a dark case of political corruption and revenge, evolving somewhere around Thessaloniki, Marseille, Seville, and Barcelona. Yet its roots go all the way back to post-Civil War Greece and the processes through which the local bourgeoisie was established. Trapped in a spider web of unfulfilled passions, curious suicides, dubious accidents, unresolved crimes, ruthless but "God-fearing" industrialists, and an artist-killer, he will strive to remain unruffled and avoid betraying two women that depend on him.
A black and white story of desperate characters unable to change their past.
